Putting IT management expertise on the map
When a rash of high-profile data breaches hit in 2014, the consulting firm Secure Digital Solutions (SDS) had a big market opportunity and story to tell. SDS brought in Donato Group to put them on the map. We quickly developed media backgrounders, prepared CEO Chad Boeckmann for interviews, and pitched him to key media for his expert perspective.
Thanks to profiles in the Star Tribune, Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, and Twin Cities Business, Chad became an established expert, and continued getting press calls for comments on breach developments. We leveraged the practical tips of his firm in key infosecurity trades such as Health Data Management.
Based on media relations success, SDS engaged Donato Group to refresh the firm’s brand. We started by clarifying a unique value proposition, Managing the Business of Information Security—and translating technical lingo into clearer business benefits. (We renamed their security report a MAPP: Maturity Assessment, Profile, and Plan). Next we worked with a leading blogger on a white paper recommending MAPP methodology. These high-impact brand messages went live in a new website in early 2016.
Midway through the project, SDS also launched and renamed its licensed software, TrustMAPP. Donato Group built two product websites over 18 months, including a demo video, and coordinated two news releases. The national publicity attracted 25 requests for one-on-one demonstrations, including one from a major automaker.
Altogether, Donato Group procured 42 media placements and 132,000 impressions for SDS. With this boost in credibility, the firm’s has grown markedly and added numerous Fortune 1000 clients.
